Protect” is the latest single from artist Andrew Rinehart (former member of Splash and touring member of Samantha Urbani’s band Friends). A Louisville, KY native (Louisville being the home of Slint, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, the guy who wrote the Seinfeld theme song, and other notables), Andrew Rinehart has paid his dues bouncing around the typical bigger-city zones for the past 5 years. He was one of the original 10 founders of the influential Body Actualized Center in Brooklyn, and spent the last two years throwing shows at Basic Flowers, a DIY space in downtown LA which Ariel Pink has been known to co-sponsor. Now back in Louisville attending graduate school for Psychology, Rinehart’s busy working on material for an upcoming more fleshed-out release — “Protect” being his first offering. Written in late 2014 as a kind of protection spell against sociopaths, the song seems eerily prescient considering recent political events. The track was produced by Louisville’s SEE TAI.  Stream it over at Tiny Mixtapes and on SoundCloud.
