About The Chavez Ravine:
The Chavez Ravine are about as Los Angeles as it gets, from taking their name from the neighborhood appropriated by the city in 1959 to make way for Dodger Stadium to the resumés of their members.  They are: singer-guitarist Manny Nieto, and drummer Phil Guerrero — both whom played in ’90s fuzz-monsters Distortion Felix — and bassist Mando Lopez, who plays in Morrissey’s band and previously played with FEAR and the Breeders.  Nieto, of course, is the man at the controls at Suplex Audio where he has produced music for the likes of HEALTH, Trash talk, The Breeders, Darker My Love, Los Lobos among others.

“I think our name The Chavez Ravine does mean something, considering we are all SoCal Latinos making music that’s not metal, as a DJ or playing hip-hop,” Nieto says. “Our DNA is more Devo vs. Wipers.”

MICRODOSE is a monthly single release and live event series celebrating new music from our neighborhood (LA’s Eastside) and beyond. This platform will serve as a launchpad for up-and-coming artists, uniting and expanding our artistic community.  Monthly singles will include an A-side and B-side, and each artist will perform live at Dangerbird’s Silver Lake based HQ/event space.
“A good old fashioned keg party for the artist, their community and the neighborhood as a whole.

“Music fans in big cities have it so easy. When the biggest touring acts hit the road, you know they’re stopping in your town. The flip side of this, however, is that we often forget to pay attention to the great local scenes rocking out in our very own backyards. In an effort to shed light on this musical blindspot, Dangerbird Records has launched their new MICRODOSE series.” —Consequence of Sound
