After touring the UK with the likes of The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Cults, and Yuck, fuzzed out rockers Fanzine are finally set to release their official debut single. “Roman Holiday/ My Stupid Brain” will be released as a double A-side 7″ through Fat Possum on November 22nd. There will also be a CD-R version of the single that’ll come with an illustrated fanzine, similar to their self-released debut EP1. All in all this promises to be a very exciting limited run of 500.

“Roman Holiday” is already a firm favorite for crowds that have managed to catch Fanzine live this year. With its catchy as hell AC/DC-tinged opening riff, cooing vocal hooks and howling guitar solo, it’s been their opening song ever since they penned it, so it’s only fitting that it be the one to introduce them to the world.

“My Stupid Brain” sees the band slow things down a little- vocalists/ songwriters Ed Hayes and Jock Norton trade breezy guitar licks over wistful, whispered vocals that lackadaisically lament the self sabotage of an idle mind. “Your brain’s bored of me and mine is too, so help me out” Jock pleads as the song steers itself towards an explosive crescendo. This has provided the second bookend to their live shows, which will mean fans will have to see the band in the flesh to find out what goes in between.
