GYDA possesses a rare range of musical experiences which creates an exquisite alchemical compound, from being a founding member of electronic dream-pop group múm to mastering classical cello in Russia & Switzerland she has created a world entirely her own. With eastern scales sliding into inky midnight chords, and finger-picked melodies swimming alongside the evocative soar of her cello as her otherworldly voice weaves tales of far-flung places, past loves, still moments, and dark observations. Gyða’s music seems at once ancient and brand new, like unrolling a scroll to find the ink still wet.
Her long list of collaborators include Aaron & Bryce Dessner, Damien Rice, Skúli Sverris, Ólöf Arnalds, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Dustin O´Halloran, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ben Frost, Shahzad Ismaily, cult-film creator Guy Maddin and visual-artist Ragnar Kjartansson.
