VIDEO: “Say No To Love”

NYC poptimists The Pains of Being Pure At Heart premiere their newest video for “Say No To Love” today on Stereogum. The video follows the band’s keyboardist, Peggy Wang, on a hooky-playing odyssey through a suburban mall, while the boys practice and wonder where she might be. After a fun filled day of pretzel necklaces, blown bubbles and food courting cute boys, Peggy ultimately makes her way to the studio to find it empty. This symbolizes… who cares, It’s just a video. But a damn good one that’ll leave you smiling ear to ear.

The video, produced and directed by Mix Tape Club (also known for videos done for TV On the Radio and Passion Pit) is a gorgeous piece of film that looks like a 70’s throwback with vivid colors and edited with playful scratch animation. “Their music has always kind of reminded us of summertime when we were growing up, and we wanted to capture that feeling in this video – those days that seem so good that you’re almost sad because you know they won’t last.” says a member of the directing team.

In addition, the band will be making their next live NYC appearance at the 10th Annual Siren Festival in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn. They’ll be sharing the stage with Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Matt & Kim and recent tour buddies, Surfer Blood. Immediately after their performance the Pains travel to the UK and Europe to complete a mini tour to support the band’s sparkling new single and video.
