Chicago’s Smith Westerns will release its sophomore LP, Dye It Blonde, on Fat Possum on Jan. 18. The first single from the record is “Weekend” which you can hear here or here. The record was produced by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, !!!, TVOTR, Beach House, etc.) in New York City. The band has already won wide acclaim based on its self-titled debut, originally released in 2009 via the Chicago label HoZac while all of the band members were still enrolled in high school. The band has a handful of US shows this Fall, including dates with Florence and the Machine and a few on their own. Their Nov. 5 show at Lincoln Hall in Chicago will be the band’s last Chicago show for some time as the band will be heading to Europe to open the MGMT tour.
