Toronto’s Odonis Odonis release the music video for their latest single ” Are We Friends.” The group’s frontman Dean Tzenos stitches together scrambled black-and-white VHS footage to create the video’s frenetic mood. Watch the video over at Noisey.
The band is set to play this year’s CMJ Music Marathon in New York. Full tour dates listed below.
Odonis Odonis are Dean Tzenos, Denholm Whale and Jarod Gibson.
When it came time to perform Odonis Odonis’ 2011 debut, Hollandaze, Tzenos recruited the help of Whale and Gibson, local musicians who he knew he could trust to bring a live intensity and craft to his songs.
The band supported the record all over North America and Europe with the likes of A Place to Bury Strangers, The Soft Moon, Ty Segall, and Chelsea Wolfe, as well as fellow Torontonians Metz.
“Are We Friends” is the next step for the band, following the release of their Better EP, which came out in April 2013 via Buzz Records.

Buzz Records was founded in 2011 as a garage venue that hosted mostly local punk and noise bands, and soon grew into a cross-genre hub of local and touring acts like White Lung, Doldrums, Mood Rings, and Odonis Odonis. Since the demise of the venue in late 2012, the Buzz crew of Ian Chai, Dean Tzenos, and venue co-founders Jude and Denholm Whale have been dedicated to releasing music that has come out of this small, dirty pocket of Toronto. Buzz has recently released music by Weaves, Odonis Odonis and HSY.
