Radiation City is streaming its new album Synesthetica today via KEXP – it’s the third album from the Portland band and first for Polyvinyl. The band has also announced European tour dates starting in April and running into May, in addition to its North American tour in Feb. and March with Deep Sea Diver (see full extended dates below).
KEXP wrote about the album:
“a fresh take on their lush lovestruck (and lovelorn) sound, filtering their signature dreamy 60’s tinged lounge pop through more synths than ever before. Ellison’s girl group influenced vocals still dazzle and Spies adds even more variegated sonic sheen, all shaped by producer John Vanderslice and shined by producer/mixer Jeremy Sherrer, making Synesthetica a delight for all the senses.”
Stereogum recently wrote about the album’s second single “Milky White”:
“The second single from their upcoming full-length Synesthetica winds in and out of several beats and grooves, and each of them is spectacular in their respective moments. The track opens with a glitchy beep beat and some heavy hitting drums and then a wonderful controlled cacophony ensues. Then synths and organs and electric guitars and beep sequences, oh my! The breathy harmonies delivered in call-and-response rhythms beg for singing along, and good luck getting the hook out of your head”
