After the release of the intimate surprise dance track “Take Me Back,” as seen on Stereogum & Pitchfork, it marked a creative shift for Deep Cuts into dance-oriented sophistipop. The group paints smooth jazz and dark textural soundscapes over house and salsa inspired rhythms, while Houston native Chase Harris sings tales of romance, tragedy and navigating millennial darkness.
